Yes or No

I recently spent the weekend with non-signing family. So, basically anyone other than my husband and daughter. If they could only ask yes or no questions that would be helpful. I know that sounds non conversational, but if you don’t know my language, what can I do. I don’t know how many times I would interrupt my husband because someone asked me something. Or I would search for my daughter to interpret. If it was one on one, I could use my phone if they are patient enough for me to text out my thoughts. If I’m busy holding a sleeping baby or feeding him, you’re only going to get facial expressions and a nod, so, don’t plan on understanding. It was overwhelming. But I feel it should be for them not me. I’ve done my part I’ve learned another language because I want to continue to communicate, what have they done, not even learned the basics.
